Contouring has been huge over the last few years, with celebrities such as Kim Kardashian flying the flag for this statement make-up look. 2017, however, saw the contour trend evolve as spray tanners aimed to create the illusion of a chiselled, toned body with no gym membership in sight. Tantouring involves applying tanning mist to specific areas of the body, sculpting and defining certain parts and enhancing specific features. From six packs to lifted buttocks, tantouring will provide your client with their dream body, if only for a few days.

Face masks

You won’t have survived 2017 without hearing someone rave about face masks. From nourishing sheet masks to easy to use peel-off masks, it’s no secret that face masks have been a massive trend within the beauty industry. In February, we introduced BeautyPro to our supplies, a brand offering a selection of high-quality sheet masks to suit all skin types and concerns. Later in the year, the brand launched a peel-off charcoal mask, as well as two clay sheet masks, ensuring their extensive range was able to meet every client’s needs.

Alongside BeautyPro, Ellisons also added Skin Republic to their offering, a brand also providing a wide range of sheet masks that have proved a must-have addition to many salon retail ranges.

We can’t see the face mask craze dying down in 2018. Shop our selection of face masks today and make sure you’re stocked up for the New Year.

Holographic hair

Every year, festival season delivers a number of new, exciting trends, from abstract braiding to vibrant glitter make-up. This year, holographic hair was everywhere, with rose-gold hues and mermaid inspired blondes at the top of the popularity stakes. July saw the launch of L’Oreal’s Colourful Hair range, a temporary colour collection allowing colourists to create a selection of vivid hair looks that are sure to stand out.

Make your client’s holographic hue lasts right into 2018 with the OSMO silverising shampoo, a must for blonde, bleached and holographic coloured hair.

Orange eye make-up

Bold orange eyes have been a staple look throughout 2017. From delicate peach on the waterline to full-on tangerine lids, there’s no doubt that adding warmth to the eye area has been a winner this year. Whether it’s festival make-up or a more understated look for the cooler autumn months, orange was a go-to shade, especially as it suits most skin tones.

Chrome nails

This is one trend that shows no sign of disappearing. A solid favourite in both 2016 and 2017, chrome nails have been highly requested in nail salons across the country and we’re not surprised. With a variety of colours and finishes available, the chrome look can be created to suit every client’s taste and, thanks to the second Lecenté chrome launch in March, the possibilities are now even greater.
