A tanning favourite amongst professionals, celebrities and consumers alike, Sienna X offer a tanning product to suit all needs. From super busy clients who need instant results to those hoping to achieve a subtle glow, Sienna X know how to achieve the perfect tan for any occasion.
Sienna X Senior Product Manager Laura Jones caught up with us to talk all things party season, revealing how you can make the most of the busy festive season and enhance your professional tanning service.
When is the best time for clients to book their spray tan appointment before a big event?
This is dependent on the individual client and the look they want to achieve. For example, one client may love their colour the next day but another client might prefer their colour on day one or two. For large events, we would recommend a client has a trial. A trial will allow them to see which day they prefer their colour and then book their next spray tan accordingly.
For an eight hour development tan, we would recommend having a spray tan 24-48 hours before the event. However, with Sienna X 1 Hour Express Tan, you are able to reduce the eight hour development time, making it the perfect solution for those with last minute plans, even on the same day.
What advice should tanning professionals give to their clients prior to their appointment?
When taking a booking, find out as much information prior to the treatment. Find out why the client is having the treatment, the look they want to achieve and what their history of tanning may be.
To achieve the best results, advise clients of the essential preparation steps they need to take, such as when to shave and exfoliate, not to use perfume/deodorant on the day and to bring some loose clothing for after the treatment.

Which retail products would you offer to clients to help them prolong their glow?
We would recommend the below three products to achieve a long lasting healthy glow:
Radiance body balm
With fine mica, this product is great for enhancing a sunless tan and giving a healthy glow, while also hydrating skin. This is perfect for creating a glam finish ready for an evening out.
Gradual self tan lotion
We would recommend using this on day four of your tan. This silky smooth lotion can be applied to tanned skin to enhance/maintain a glow. Gradual tan is great for boosting a tan, especially for those with multiple events who need their tan to last.
In addition, we recommend the Sienna X polishing body scrub and body wash which are shower products that have been developed not to strip tan.
What party season tanning trends should we look out for this year?
The focus this year is enhancing, illuminating and sculpting. Promote tantouring as an added service, adding definition to selected areas.
During the party season, clients are more likely to show off their décolletage or legs. Educate them on how they can create a healthy sheen by sweeping Radiance Body Balm down the fronts of shins and across collarbones and shoulders.

What advice can you offer to tanning professionals who are trying to enhance/improve their tanning service this party season?
Marketing is key for growing treatments over the festive period – make sure you promote in the right places at the right time. Diaries will soon be full of office parties and events – make sure tanning is at the top of their mind and your services stand out. Also think about how you can encourage these customers to become repeat customers in the future, making sure they leave with an incentive to come back in January.
Link up with other complementary businesses or create treatment packages. For example, a Christmas pamper package including hair, nails and a tan. This means you client can go from office to glam in a few hours.
Create a festive atmosphere within your business for that extra touch. Think of your music, displays and service. Why not offer a mini mince pie with their hot drinks?
