How your salon can prepare for the busy festive season

During the festive season, it’s inevitable that you and your salon are going to be busier than normal to meet the needs of your clients.

We’ve put together a few tips to help you prepare for the busy festive season, and make sure your clients get what they wish for this Christmas.

Order your supplies in good time

During December, every client wants to look their best. This can vary to getting a spray tan to make sure they look glowing during the colder months, to treating themselves to a dark red or purple manicure, perfect for winter. With this increase in demand, it is important to give yourself enough time to play your orders for supplies. It is important to note that many suppliers shut for the majority of the Christmas period, so make sure you know when they open to avoid disappointment. The last thing you want is to have a full appointment list and no supplies, so it may also be worth placing a bulk order for January to ensure you have a stress-free start to 2019.

Extend your working hours

In order to make the most out of this busy festive season, why not extend the opening hours of your salon? Many of your clients will have more commitments in the run up to Christmas, so opening your salon for an evening or two each week during December will make it more convenient for your clients and their busy schedules.

Offer express treatments

Express treatments are ideal for salons, especially those during the hectic festive season. It allows therapists to provide fast yet high-quality results, which is a popular choice for busy clients. Plus, it will bring more to your business, because you’ll be fitting in more customers within a shorter space of time.

Social media is a great way to shout about Christmas over the busy period, whether it’s information or news about your salon or fantastic Christmas offers. Why not post a Christmas competition with the incentive of winning a free treatment in the New Year?

Retail and offers

Christmas is a great time to maximise revenue. Consider offering your clients party packages, gift vouchers and discounted treatments. Why not offer 25% off their next treatment when they spend a certain amount of money? This is a great way to help kick-start the year in January. Retail products are also a great way of enticing customers to purchase gifts, we stock a wide range of Christmas retail products for your salon here. Display them in a festive hamper basket near your reception area and get your staff to promote the selection as ‘perfect stocking fillers’.

Enhance your business with a festive look during the busy period. To make your salon more inviting, add some decorations, like a Christmas tree or holly, which will get your staff and customers in the festive spirit. Adding a Christmas display to your window will also attract clients walking past.

Why not offer some festive refreshments during December to your clients? Mince pies and prosecco go down a treat, especially at Christmas time. It’s the little things like this that make clients leave with a smile on their face. If they enjoy the whole festive experience, they are more likely to tell people about you and your salon.

They may have to work extra hours during the festive season, however make sure they are happy and don’t feel too stressed. Letting them know you appreciate their hard work is always nice. Why not throw a staff Christmas party for all your staff to enjoy with photo booth props?

Say thank you

Send your clients a thank you email or card to thank them for their custom over the past year, wishing them a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. You could personalise the message with a festive themed picture of you and your team in Christmas outfits.

And finally…enjoy it!

Christmas is always an exciting time of the year so try to enjoy it as much as possible.

We hope this will help you and your business in the run up to Christmas.
