The multi-talented Rita Ora celebrates her 26th birthday today and, after rising to fame in 2012, it’s hard to believe the star has only been in the spotlight for four years.
In that short time, the singer turned actress has topped the charts, collaborating with artists such as Iggy Azalea, and has become the face of a number of high profile brand campaigns. To celebrate her birthday, we’ve taken a look back at what Rita has achieved since becoming a global star.
After featuring on DJ Fresh’s hit single ‘Hot Right Now’, Rita went on to release her own chart topping single ‘R.I.P’, featuring Tinie Tempah, and also released her debut album Ora later that year. With statement peroxide blonde hair and a bold red lip, Rita made an impression on the pop world in 2012 and it was clear she was only going to get bigger.
Alongside releasing her dance hit ‘Radioactive’, 2013 also saw Rita Ora become the face of beauty brand Rimmel London. The singer has since released several make-up ranges with the legendary brand, as well as fronting their high profile advertising campaigns alongside stars Kate Moss and Cara Delevigne. She also embarked on her ‘Radioactive’ world tour, performing across several different countries.
In 2014, Rita’s eye-catching, street style caught the attention of major sports brand Adidas and the singer was asked to collaborate with them to create her own line of sportswear. After huge sales and demand for the vibrant collection, Rita has worked closely with the brand and continues to release new lines every season. 2014 also saw Rita collaborate with Australian rapper Iggy Azalea on the chart topping single ‘Black Widow’.
2015 was a busy year for Rita. Not only did she become an honorary ambassador for her home nation, the Republic of Kosovo, but she also starred as a judge on UK talent show The X Factor. Rita mentored 2015 winner Louisa Johnson throughout the process of the show and later saw her go on to release her own material, collaborating with pop group Clean Bandit.
Despite her busy schedule, Rita’s pop career was still in full swing and the star managed to release her single ‘Poison’, as well as appear on the big screen in one of the year’s most anticipated films ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’. Rita’s acting career isn’t set to end just yet as she singer has confirmed she will be reprising her role as Mia Grey in the next two sequels of the trilogy.
The talented star is set to take on her biggest challenge yet this year. It has been confirmed that the singer will replace the legendary Tyra Banks as head judge and presenter of America’s Next Top Model. Having had a huge impact on the fashion industry in the last few years, working with designers such as DKNY and Roberto Cavalli, this role couldn’t be more fitting for the popstar.
