Singer, songwriter, actress, mother, wife. Beyoncé’s list of talents seems to be never ending. Today is Queen B’s 35th birthday and, to celebrate, we’re taking a look back at the hair and beauty evolution of the star.
During her Destiny’s Child days, a fresh-faced Beyoncé had 90’s layers cut into darker hair, as well as heavier make-up. Lined lips and darker eyes were a staple look in the 90s and, similar to today, Beyoncé was well on trend.
2002 saw the release of Beyoncé’s debut single Crazy in Love and a brand new look from the star. Super straight, highlighted locks, alongside a fresher make-up look made Beyoncé shine alone as her solo career took off.
As well as kick-starting her solo career, Queen Bey decided to give acting a go in 2002 and starred as FBI agent Foxy Cleopatra in American comedy film Austin Powers Goldmember. Set in the 70’s, Beyoncé sports a golden brown afro wig, as well as an array of metallic eye shadows and exaggerated winged eyeliner.
In 2006, Beyoncé released her second studio album B’Day. Alongside a new album came a new look for the queen of pop as she showed off ombre waves and a wispy fringe.
For the release of her third album in 2008, Beyoncé introduced the world to her alter ego Sasha Fierce and sashayed across hundreds of stages to chart topper Single Ladies. But we also got a glimpse of a more vulnerable Beyoncé, hence the stripped back, natural hair and make-up she chose for her album artwork.
Queen B stunned us all in 2013 with the surprise release of her self-titled fifth studio album. To go with her latest body of work, Beyoncé opted for a shorter do and showed off a choppy, honey-blonde bob.
For her second Super Bowl performance, Beyoncé flaunted a beautiful textured mane of curls and metallic copper eyelids.
2016 saw the release of perhaps her most controversial album yet and, again, Beyoncé switched her style to suit. Performing as part of her Formation world tour, Queen B displays intricate braids and a smoky eye to match the black and gold of one of her many dazzling stage outfits.
